During the school year the Adams PTA will hosts two major fundraising events, The Big Give and (our new) Move-A-Thon. Collectively these two events raise the majority of our PTA funds. Additional funding is raised throughout the year through our Everyday Ways To Give opportunities. Our annual fundraising efforts provides our PTA the opportunity to support the Adams families, teachers and staff in the following ways.
-
Playground & Lunch staff
-
Math & Literacy tutors
-
social emotional learning (SEL) programing
-
Classroom supplies
-
Community engagement and events
-
school-wide assemblies
-
and more.. Click here to learn more about how your donation helps.
Adams families consistently step up with donations of time and money that helps us continue our efforts. This school year we aim to raise $122,000 through our two primary fundraising events.
Moveathon FUNdraiser

Moveathon – What is it?
The Adams Moveathon is an all-school FUNdraising event and an incredible opportunity for students, families, and staff to come together to directly support Adams Elementary School. With emphasis on the “fun,” Moveathon is an active way for students to get directly involved in raising money for PTA-supported enrichment programs at their school.
Who participates, and how?
All students get to participate! Before the event, students may set a personal lap goal, then collect pledges from family, friends, and neighbors-near and far. They may also collect flat contributions not tied to laps. On event day, each student will walk, stroll or run around a 1/12th mile track for 20 minutes, completing as many laps as possible. Afterwards, students will collect their pledge money and return it to the school.
We are working hard to make this event a huge success and know that the generosity of our Adams families and local businesses will help us succeed!
T-shirt design contest
New to Moveathon this year is an art contest which was open to all Adams students to create the design for the front of this year’s Moveathon t-shirt. This year's winner was third grader Sienna Ruf. Congratulations, Siena!

HOW YOUR DONATIONS HELPS
Supports Our Teachers
Playground & Lunch staff. These positions free up hours for teachers to prepare lessons, connect with families, give extra attention to any student who needs it, and run to the bathroom!
Math & Literacy tutors for all grade levels provide additional support to students. Tutors supplement individual learning progress so teachers can continue with their planned lessons in the classroom and support group activities.
Together, these positions provide teachers with more than 6,000 hours of time.
For 2021-22 only, the PTA will support 50% of our Student and Family Support Teacher following district funding cuts. Heather McQuarrie is developing a school-wide social emotional learning (SEL) plan and is also providing support to families and children.
Each teacher is allocated funding to help cover classroom supplies and field trips. “I appreciate how the PTA supports teachers because it helps us provide supplies for students in need and scholarships for after school programs.” --Lisa Woodside, 4th grade teacher.
Supporting our teachers helps teachers support:
Our Students
Our students learn in arts-infused classrooms. Adams teachers have been trained to build art into the study of math, reading, writing, science, and social studies. The PTA provides funding to support arts-infused curriculum, supplies, assemblies, and instruction.
Growing healthy students helps us grow...
Our Community
The PTA hosts many free all-school events each year. These include monthly coffee meetups, a fall festival, and the carnival in the spring. The PTA publishes a family directory and hosts regular grade-level meetups. We provide funding for building, playground, and landscaping improvements. We support the 5th grade yearbook, graduation, and a trip to Islandwood camp.
And that’s just the beginning. Our PTA is also involved in city and state-level advocacy efforts to help improve Seattle schools for all students. We share news and information that impacts our school with parents, and we invite speakers to help us learn more. The PTA also maintains emergency water and food supplies, and pedestrian safety efforts to keep our kids safe.
Come to our PTA general meetings to learn more about everything the PTA does, and share your ideas!
